What “POSS CS PG 2-A <= 2OZ” means

Texas Health and Safety Code § 481.1161(b)(1) applies to knowing or intentional possession of a controlled substance in Penalty Group 2-A when the aggregate weight, including any adulterants or dilutants, is two ounces or less. Penalty Group 2-A is the state's list of synthetic cannabinoids — laboratory-made compounds that act on cannabinoid receptors, marketed under names such as "K2" and "Spice" — which the Legislature grouped separately from both marihuana and the hallucinogens in Penalty Group 2. The statute mirrors the marihuana possession tiers by measuring in ounces and pounds rather than grams. The State must prove the person exercised actual care, custody, control, or management over the substance with knowledge of it. At two ounces or less the offense is a Class B misdemeanor, the statute's lowest classification; subsection (b)(2) takes over above two ounces.
