About My Texas Defense Lawyer

Our Mission

My Texas Defense Lawyer began as a not-for-profit research project aimed at determining the differences in criminal outcomes across Texas. Our research team was dedicated to understanding how various factors—including location, attorney representation, and case types—affected criminal justice outcomes throughout the state.

During our research, we discovered that this comprehensive data compilation was incredibly valuable for understanding the Texas criminal justice system. The insights we gained were so significant that we decided to make this information publicly available, believing that transparency in the justice system benefits everyone.

Public Service Commitment

Our platform currently operates as a public service and does not generate revenue. We believe that access to criminal justice data should be available to all Texas residents, legal professionals, researchers, and anyone seeking to understand how the legal system functions in their community.

Data Transparency

All information displayed on our platform comes from publicly available sources, including:

  • Texas State Bar records and attorney licensing information
  • County court records and case filings
  • Court appointment and public defender data
  • Officially filed legal documents and proceedings

Because we aggregate data from multiple public sources, complete information is not always available for every case or attorney. We do our best to provide comprehensive and current information, but we make no guarantees regarding the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of the data presented.

Objective Information

Our platform maintains strict objectivity by:

  • Presenting only data derived from official public records
  • Prohibiting attorneys from paying to modify their listings
  • Refusing requests to remove public case information
  • Not accepting testimonials, reviews, or promotional content
  • Maintaining independence from commercial legal referral services

Research Impact

Our original research revealed important patterns in criminal justice outcomes across Texas counties, including disparities in:

  • Case resolution times and methods
  • Attorney appointment practices
  • Sentencing patterns across jurisdictions
  • Resource allocation in different counties

By making this data publicly accessible, we hope to contribute to ongoing discussions about criminal justice reform and help individuals make more informed decisions when facing legal challenges.

Data Limitations

Users should be aware that:

  • Public records may have inconsistencies or gaps in coverage
  • Different counties maintain records with varying levels of detail
  • Some information may not be immediately available due to court processing delays
  • Historical data availability varies by jurisdiction and time period

We recommend verifying any critical information directly with the relevant court, bar association, or legal authority before making important decisions.

Continuing Our Work

While our initial research project has concluded, we continue to maintain and update this platform as a public service. We regularly refresh our data from official sources to ensure the most current information is available to users.

Our commitment to transparency and public access remains unchanged, and we will continue operating this platform to serve the Texas community's need for accessible criminal justice information.
